Artist Statement

You can see it all in my work. I reshape myself, my dreams and thoughts, memories, and put them all on the canvas for you to see.  I am a multimedia artist, honing my skills in many different areas. I can find myself in most mediums, whether that be in the thick pigment of oil paint, the smooth lines of digital art, or the panels of a comic. The visual threads that combine my work are vibrant colors and magical realism. I enjoy creating in bright, rich colors. These are essential to understanding the mood of each piece. I enjoy creating a story- something tangible enough to give the viewer a moment of respite in an otherwise chaotic world. Many of my pieces are stories that are believable enough for my audience to fill in the gaps of what is left unsaid, becoming an unintentional collaborator in my work. My work explores themes of body, sexuality, gender, and self. I create pieces to not only tell the stories close to my heart, but to serve as inspiration for others around me to tell their own. 

Bio

Ada DeLeon is a contemporary painter and visual artist based in the Bay Area. They are a recent graduate from San Francisco State University, and currently hold a Bachelors Degree in Studio Arts, with a minor in Business Marketing as well as Comics.
